Motivation
We are often asked if we deliver ‘team building’ days. Interesting question but then one might ask “Team building for what?” The most common answer? “I’m not sure”.
In our view, if you want to give your colleagues a ‘fun day’ out go paintballing, roller skating, bowling or raft building.
It will be a good day out but it won’t build a team.
Real team building comes from being motivated – not excited.
If by team building you mean something that sustains and creates a benefit to you and your business, then do the following;
· Listen
· Give them their head
· Expect imperfection
· Listen more
· Encourage
· Laugh at failure
· Be objective
· Let them shine
· Be humble
· Sit back, watch and be surprised
That’s how you build a team – a team that sustains and has a true purpose.
After all, the whiff of paintball fades fast!
