Tina Neylon - WriterTina Neylon was born in Co. Clare, grew up in England, and attended UCC as a mature student, where she graduated with a BA Honours degreee and was a tutor in the English Department while working on her MA.
Tina worked at Cork Opera House from 1991 to 1994, looking after PR and Marketing. In 1994 she was recruited by RTE Radio Cork to co-ordinate a radio drama competition. From 1994-95 she presented a live arts programme on RTE Radio Cork and started to write as a journalist. She was Literary Editor of The Irish Examiner for six years, commissioning work by other journalists. During this period she also deputised for the Arts Editor, the Features Editor and edited The Holly Bough and many commercial supplements on a wide variety of subjects, including weddings, homes & gardens, pensions etc.
Over the years she has interviewed many authors, actor and others, among them, Patricia Cornwell, PD James, Gerry Adams, Cillian Murphy, Cliff Richard....
She was commissioned by US publisher Hunter to write the Hunter Adventure Guide to Ireland, published in 2004 and its Pocket Guide version in 2007. She was a contributor to the Insight Guide to Ireland in 2008. Since 2006 Tina has been teaching courses in Journalism and Public Relations for the Irish Academy of Public Relations and for County Cork VEC and City of Cork VEC (FETAC Level 5 Print Journalism).  « back |
